Local artist Christine Hartman is currently exhibiting her paintings at the Barre Opera House Lobby Gallery. The exhibit will run through March 25, 2014 and all of the art work is for sale as priced (unless otherwise noted). A percentage of each sale benefits the Barre Opera House.
Christine is known for her custom painted pet portraits, which capture the personality as well as the breed of her subjects. As a lifetime artist, Christine’s art has long been recognized for its bright colors and whimsical quality. While she exhibits work in mixed media and found object art as well as her acrylic paintings, Christine’s affinity and love for animals has led her to a focus on animal portraiture. Her portraits become family treasures for those who share her passion for their pets.
Christine finds inspiration in nature, music & simplicity. “As a mixed media artist my mission is to use found objects to create one of a kind works of art. I like working with natural objects and turning items perceived as trash into beautiful and thought provoking expressions of my world view. As a pet portraitist my mission is to use my affinity with animals to paint a portrait showing the innate character of our four legged companions and to capture the essence of the human/animal connection. I like my portraits to evoke fond memories for people who have lost their pets and to represent that bond through the passage of time.”
The Barre Opera House Gallery, located on the 2nd floor via stairs or elevator, is open to visitors from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays, and on weekends during performances.
