Editor:
I’m a Barre City resident, homeowner, and taxpayer. My husband and I are parents of three young boys, the eldest of which is in first grade at Barre City Elementary & Middle School. I’m writing to encourage your readers to vote in favor of the BCEMS budget on Tuesday, June 10th.
The proposed budget represents a little more than a penny’s increase over this year’s budget. Even with a small increase, Barre City has one of the lowest school tax rates in the area. I moved here in 2001 because Barre was (and is) an up and coming city and a great place to live and raise a family.
Voting for this school budget, which is thoughtfully prepared by professionals and invests in programming for our students, is a vote for the future of Barre. Let’s continue to move Barre forward. A community is only as strong and healthy as its families and schools.
Join me in voting yes for the BCEMS budget on June 10th. And, contact me if you would like to help get out the vote at barrerocksvt@gmail.com (I’m also in the phone book). Other parents and I are working to put together several voter outreach efforts up to and including the day of the re-vote. Come help get out the vote!
