When I was in 7th and 8th grade, the entire class had to go one night a week and take dancing lessons. I know that the girls didn’t really like it, and I can only assume that the boys hated it! But back in those days nobody asked what they wanted to do, so when dancing school came around, we all went and although we might not have liked it, we did learn to dance.
Which brings to mind “Dancing With the Stars.” And why you ask? Well if any of you happen to watch this particular program on T.V. then I must assume that you also are wowed by the beautiful costumes and the incredible dancing of the contestants and their professional partners. But do you ever ask yourself these two questions… Where have these non-professionals learned these dances in only a week? And my favorite question, what are these dances and where did they come from? I don’t care who you are or where you learned to dance, don’t tell me you have ever seen most of those dances before!
And of course, my personal favorite is when the male partner picks the female up over his head twirls her around and then flings her to the floor. Maybe you but definitely not me! Not now nor ever.
I had lots of friends in high school who could set their shoes on fire when the danced the Lindy, and we all thought they were fantastic. But they couldn’t hold a candle to the worst of DWTS!
Watch the program and enjoy the “performances” by the contestants. Just don’t try any of their moves at home… And don’t try to figure out what dance they are supposed to be doing. Cha cha cha? Not in this lifetime.
