Pick-Your-Own Picnic
Event on 2014-07-19 11:00:00
Saturday, July 19th 11am-1pm
Price: per adult and per kid
Enjoy the seasonal bounty and seasonal beauty of a Vermont hill farm as you learn about, harvest, cook, and eat a very fresh, very local picnic.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to Green Mountain Girls Farm, a diverse, year-round, hill farm, and the blend of values (environmental, social and economic) we aim to create. Guests will then have the opportunity to learn about the edible opportunities of the season and fine-tune their picnic menu, heading out to the crop fields with baskets and “sharps”, harvesting produce, herbs and edible flowers for the picnic. Next you will pass through the farmstand to gather any additional ingredients before proceeding to the “farm room”, our certified commercial kitchen, where all who are interested will work the harvest into a picnic lunch which will then be enjoyed family style.
Weather permitting, the picnic will be enjoyed outside, surrounded by the verdancy of a farm in summer and the beautiful view of neighboring Paine Mountain.
