SIERGIEY, EDWARD J., 62, of Barre and Marshfield, unexpectedly passed away at his home from heart disease in Barre over the Fourth of July weekend. Born in Plainfield, N. J., on Jan. 9, 1952, he was the son of Edward Siergiey Sr. and Felixa Sigiel. A fiercely independent, proud, wild-free spirit; Eddie was also a loyal and helpful neighbor, always willing to lend a hand. He loved passionately, and lived life boisterously, and was most proud of the mark he made on the world with his children and grandchildren. In addition, his decades of quality carpentry and construction work have left numerous lives and families across the state touched by his craftsmanship. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Martin Siergiey and is survived by his five children; Matthew Labate, Daniel Labate, Julia Juarez, Elizabeth Siergiey and Deven Siergiey, along with four grandchildren. Extended family includes his sister Barbara Cannis, brother Bruce Siergiey and their families. Eddie lived most of his life in the Green Mountains, and loved the people and land of Vermont. He put down his roots here after leaving the service, vowing never to leave. His large family was raised here and his lifelong dream was to build a house and retire on his slice of Vermont land in Marshfield. Eddie’s life will be honored at a service for family and friends in late August in Barre.
