MEANEY, FRANCIS J. “MIDGE,” 92, of Randolph Center, died April 5, at Gifford Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1921, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Francis J. and Marion (Purdy) Meaney. He graduated from Lenox (Mass.) High School. Mr. Meaney served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Barbara E. Brow in Denver, Colo., Nov. 23, 1944. He retired from Mass. Electric where he was an electrical consultant for many years. Mr. Meaney was a member of Nantucket Basket Makers Association, Southern Berkshire Barber Shop Chorus Association and First Congregational Church of Randolph Center. He enjoyed basket making, golf and caning chairs. Survivors include his wife, of Randolph Center; a daughter, Barbara Meaney, of East Randolph; a son, David Meaney, of Lancaster, Pa.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Michael and Stephen Meaney, and a brother, William Meaney.
