HOLMAN, PAULINE C. “POLLY,” 85, died April 1, at Joslyn House in Randolph. She was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Concord, N.H., the daughter of Charles and Alice (Irish) Chase. She graduated from Colton (N.Y.) High School in 1950 and from Gifford Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse from 1950 to 2009. She had been nursing supervisor at Gifford Medical Center, Tranquility Nursing Home and Mayo Health Care in Northfield. Later, she was a traveling nurse for the American Red Cross, ending her career at Windover House in 2009. She had also worked as a nurse and cook at Brookfield School and as a Brookfield health officer. She married Charles Holman Sr. in Brookfield on May 5, 1951. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Vermont State Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, reading, gardening, music and dancing. Survivors include three sons, Charles H. Holman Jr., of Brookfield, Patrick Holman, of Timberlake, N.C., and Robert Holman, of Brookfield; four daughters, Patricia Porter, of Norwalk, Conn., Cynthia Rose, of Braintree, Susan Holman, of Manchester, N.H., and Vicky Jo Gaudette, of Randolph; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Sanford Chase, of Worcester, Lawrence Chase, of Colton, N.Y., Marlo Chase, of Hermon, N.Y., and Marcell Chase, of East Cazenovia, N.Y.; and a sister, Blanche Watson, of Hermon, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994 and a granddaughter.
