WHITE, PHYLLIS L., 88, of Castleton, died February 28 at the Mountain View Center in Rutland, following a long illness. She was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Fayston, the daughter of Oscar and Beatrice (Wrisley) Durkee. Mrs. White had been a longtime resident of Castleton. She loved bingo and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. White Jr. of Northfield and Steven White of Castleton; a sister, Mary Amerio of Waterbury; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas W. White Sr.; a son, Larry White; and a sister, Iva Hewitt.
