Stephen M. Kunkle

Stephen M. Kunkle, formerly of Williamstown, VT died unexpectedly at home in Las Vegas, NV. Steve was born February 12, 1986 in Okinawa, Japan the son of Charles R. and Ann (Smith) Kunkle. Upon his father’s retirement from the Air Force they settled in Williamstown, VT where he completed elementary and middle/high school, graduating in 2004. He later moved to Spokane, WA and while there joined the U.S. Army and was part of the 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red 1) and served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He then moved to South Carolina, Washington state, and finally Nevada. He was a talented artist and musician who was very adept on the guitar. Along with his parents he is survived by siblings Marc (Tory) Kunkle of Franklin, TN, Caroline (Lance) Erickson of Phoenix, AZ, Douglas (Jessica) Kunkle of Bremerton, WA John (Meagan) Kunkle of Barre, VT, grandmother Elaine H. Smith of West Topsham, VT, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Per Steve’s wishes, internment will be out west. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
