BEAUDET, GILLES J., 81, of South Barre, passed away November 20, at Central Vermont Medical Center. Born in St. Edward, Quebec, May 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Isaih and Marie (Auger) Beaudet. Gilles attended schools in Canada. After his schooling, he helped his father in the logging business. In the early ’50s, he moved to Vermont, where he made his home in South Barre. In May of 1955, he married Fernande Soucy in St. Edward Catholic Church in Williamstown. Gilles was first employed as a truck driver. In 1959 he started his own business, Gilles Marines, in South Barre. He later started a catering business where he went to many local activities, such as the Fourth of July events and Barre Homecoming. He was well known for his famous “meat pies.” Among his interests were hunting and fishing. Survivors include three sons, Michael Beaudet, of Barre Town, Roger Beaudet and his fiancée, Lisa Goslant, of Northfield, and Gary Beaudet and his fiancée, Erica Allen, of Eden; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Claude Beaudet, of St. Edward, Quebec, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Benoit and Laurent Beaudet, and one sister, Louiselle Beaudet.
