Retired Chief Petty Officer Douglas Baker passed away September 21, 2019 in Tavares Florida at the age of 82. Born in Northfield to Clarence and Bertha Baker. He attended Northfield Schools and graduated in 1955. After graduation he joined the Navy and served for 23 years. He served on the submarines Skate, Trout, Skipjack and on the very first nuclear submarine for 7 years. He worked for the Federal Government after his retirement for some years.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Hatch), his sons Douglas of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Dwight of Melbourne, Florida and a daughter Mary Margaret of Daytona Beach, Florida and 7 grandchildren. He leaves behind sisters Joan Buck of Northfield, Bertha (Susie) Burnell of Waterbury and a brother Harold (Butch) Baker of Northfield and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Mother and Father, his first wife Elizabeth (Libby), brothers Herman, Leonard, Morton, Floyd and Duane.
