Beloved superhero, father, husband, brother, zookeeper and kind, bright soul passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was predeceased by his soulmate, Cheryl Lynn Hemsey Jennings who lost her own courageous battle with cancer in 2007. They were married for 29 wonderful years. Bill has been a leader in central Vermont law enforcement for over 30 years. He founded the Berlin Police Department in 1991, and was chief for many, many years. After his retirement from Berlin PD Bill returned to law enforcement working first for the Montpelier Police Department and then was selected as the Chief of Police in Northfield, VT. Bill retired as Chief of Police in 2017. Bill also worked security at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA and at Salt Lake City, UT in 2002.

Bill is survived by his children, Max Marie Lynn Jennings of Montpelier, VT, Alan Russell Jennings of Boston, MA, his mother Mary Jennings of Newbury, VT, beloved brothers,, David Jennings of Northfield, VT, Michael Jennings of Newbury, VT, Scott Jennings of Newbury, Vt. Sharon Olson of Montpelier, VT, in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, as well as everyone who knew him. Bill was predeceased by his father, Donald J. Jennings of Roxbury, VT and niece Audrey Lynn Jennings-Carbee of Newbury, VT. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to the Cheryl Jennings Reading Program. A celebration will be held on Friday, 11 January 2019 at 1PM at the4 United Church, 58 South Main Street, Northfield, VT. An informal gathering with refreshments will be held at the church after the service.
