WHEATLEY, JANET, 78, died September 18 at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield. She was born April 1, 1935, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Stansfield) Ryan. Janet moved to Barre with her family when she was very young. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1953. Following her education, she went to work at Hill-Martin Corp. as a secretary to Arthur Hill, Sr. She later worked at Rossi Buick Olds as a secretary and accounts receivable bookkeeper. She was married to John Wheatley Sept. 14, 1954. Mr. Wheatley died in 2007. Janet was a member of the Episcopal Church of Barre and the Order of the Eastern Star Crescent Chapter, and was a past matron. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and playing computer games. She also loved her many cats she had over the years, and enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders and all the other wildlife that came to her yard. She loved to play the piano and enjoyed playing Irish music. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews: Stan and Sharon Wheatley, Lyn and Jill Wheatley, Alan Wheatley and Holly Harrington, Dale and Dorothy Wheatley, Diane and Carl Pettersen, Steve and Susan Reynolds, Debra Reynolds, Patricia and Barry St. Marie, Judith and Norm Mills, Cindy and Robert Keogh, Jeffery Benway, Stuart and Jeanette Benway, Susan and Clarence Lyons, Robert and Patricia Ryan, Alan and Peggy Perry, Cheryl Ryan and Tony Chaloux, many grand-nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Lucille Ryan, Cindy Perry and Bertha Benway; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Howard Reynolds. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Ryan, and nephews, Michael Ryan and Gordon Perry.
