GEORGE “JUNIE,” GOODRICH JR The passing on Feb. 7, 2018, of our Dad at the age of 82, removed from Northfield’s business ranks one of its most enterprising leaders. He had played an active role here for six decades. He was owner of the cable television service, first started by his father in 1951, that enabled Northfield to become the first community in New England to enjoy the services of cable TV. He was born in Northfield on Feb. 11, 1935, the first child of five, to George L. Goodrich and Florence “Mitzi” (Jeppson) Goodrich. He grew up on the family farm. Following his graduation from Northfield High School in 1953, Dad enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving for four years. Throughout his life, Dad was known as Northfield’s most loyal Boston Red Sox fan and shared this passion with his children. He was a member of the DeWitt-Clinton Lodge, a lifelong member of the American Legion and a longtime member of the Northfield Jaycees, serving as president of the organization for many years. One of Dad’s greatest accomplishments, of which he was most proud, was being a single Dad and raising his six children. Dad will be deeply missed by his daughters, Jill Goodrich (Bruce), Sherri Brickey (Barry) and Jennifer Seaver (Paul); and sons George L. Goodrich III (Julie) and Todd Goodrich; his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Chloe Schwager, Thomas J. Goodrich, Carlie Goodrich and Robert Goodrich; along with many nieces and nephews.
