MARCOTTE, LORRAINE MARGARET, 87, of Goffstown, N.H., died September 6, at the Ridgewood Health Care Center in Bedford, N.H. She and her husband, Gerry, were longtime residents on Ayers Street in Barre. Born Nov. 9, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert A. and Margaret (Finnigan) Butler. She was a graduate of Spaulding High School in 1943 and the former Barre City Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. On Nov. 4, 1950, Lorraine married Gerard L. Marcotte at St. Sylvester Church in Graniteville. Most of their married life had been spent in Barre City. She worked for many years as a registered nurse in the maternity ward of the former Barre City Hospital and later the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. Lorraine had been an active member of her high school class reunion committee and held many memberships including St. Monica Catholic Church, Court St. Monica, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Barre City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Besides her husband, Gerard, she leaves her daughter Margaret “Peggy” Piecuch and husband, Stanley, of Goffstown, N.H., and her son, Jerry Marcotte, and wife, Wendy, of Sun City, Fla., as well as two granddaughters, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Marcotte and sisters Muriel Grenon and Patricia Rubalcaba.
