GEORGE, GLENNA CATHLEEN, of Northfield, passed away peacefully on September 13, surrounded by her family at her residence in the Mayo Healthcare facility in Northfield. Glenna was born in Williamstown on May 23, 1916, to the late Henry and Eliza (DeCoteau) Gallison. She was the younger of two girls and was predeceased by her sister, Doris Shorey. Glenna attended parochial schools in Montpelier and sang and danced her way through high school, graduating from St. Michael’s in 1934. Her beautiful voice could be heard most afternoons on local radio station WDEV in Waterbury. Her love of music continued throughout her lifetime, and while residing at Mayo Healthcare, she looked forward to the many afternoons of musical entertainment. Glenna married Rupert George, the love of her life, on Sept. 10, 1935. They spent 64 years together before Rupert’s passing in 2000. Glenna’s life revolved around her family. She was the ultimate homemaker and had a passion for cooking and maintaining an immaculate home. Her holiday dinners were always a family highlight. Glenna was Mother to four, Grammy to nine, Great-Grammy to 16 and Great-Great-Grammy to 11. Glenna was predeceased by her great-grandson Brian Brewer, of Winter Haven, Fla. Glenna lived a full, happy and healthy 97 years. She is survived by her son Ronald George (Myra), of Auburndale, Fla., her son Robert George (Pat), of Barre, her daughter Beverly Jacobs (Stan), of Barre, and her daughter Vicki Poratti (John), of South Hero. Also surviving her are nine grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
