SEARS, ROGER F., 87, of Montpelier, died September 14, at Central Vermont Medical Center. He was born in Northfield June 8, 1926, the son of Edgar and Mabel (Parsons) Sears. He graduated in 1944 from Northfield High School. Mr. Sears enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force cadet program during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He learned to fly planes during his military service in Houston, Tex. He had been married to Marie Sumner. In 1962, he married Margaret Rouelle in Montpelier. He worked for Vermont Flying Service, earned his commercial flight instructor license in 1947 and taught flight lessons for four years. In 1949, he was employed by Interstate Equipment in Montpelier as parts manager, became a part-owner and vice president in 1970, and retired in 1988. Mr. Sears was a member of United Methodist Church, Sorrell Maynard American Legion Post, Northfield Snowmobilers Club, 40 & 8 Club and Central Vermont Boating Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, winters in Florida and summers at his camp in North Hero. Survivors include his wife of Montpelier; two daughters, Gail Broadwell of Johnson and Susan Boisclair of Middlesex; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur.
