TANGUAY, CHARLES ALANSON “BUDDY,” 82, of Barre, died July 12 at Central Vermont Medical Center. Born Jan. 12, 1931, in Hartford, Conn., he was the son of Thomas J. and Lillian (Beaton) Tanguay. He attended Barre Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1948. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force, he served from December 1950 to November 1954 as an Air Force policeman and had been stationed in Korea. He was discharged as a sergeant. A longtime employee of the Tilo Co. in Burlington, he worked throughout the New England area as a supervisor in their roofing and siding division. He enjoyed his houseboat on Lake Champlain, automobile rides throughout Vermont, visiting the Maine beaches, woodworking, football and NASCAR racing, and lived his life with optimism and good cheer.

Survivors include his sister, Beverly, with whom he made his home; his sisters-in-law, Estelle Tanguay, of Barre Town, and Beverly Tanguay, of South Burlington; his special cousin Ruth Beaton, of Williamstown; as well as his nieces, Michele Burak and husband, William, Patti Boyce and husband, Jeffrey, Andrea Merritt and husband, John, Dawn Tanguay, and Pamela Simendinger and husband, David; his nephews, Jeffrey and Thomas Tanguay, and Michael Sassi and wife, Donna; two cousins; and more distant relatives. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Barry and Donald Tanguay.
