Robert “Chico” Nadeau, 71, of Birch Lane Road, passed away on Nov. 6, 2017, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT, with his family at his bedside. Born in Nantes, Quebec, on Dec. 20, 1945, he was the son of Albert and Carmen (Trepanier) Nadeau. Robert, better known to his friends as “Chico,” attended schools in Canada. After his schooling, he came to VT to work in the granite industry then later was employed as a mechanic for many years. His last employment was a truck driver for New York and Vermont Motor Express, now Bellavance Trucking. On May 28, 1966, he married Denise Rodrigue in Ste. Cecile Catholic Church in Ste. Cecile, Quebec. After they married, the couple moved to VT where they made their home in Barre for 25 years before moving to Williamstown. Survivors include his wife of 51 years of marriage, Denise Nadeau, of Williamstown; his mother, Carmen Nadeau, of Lake Megantic, Quebec. Also surviving are his daughter, Nancy Ford and her husband, Christopher, of Barre; one son, Robert Nadeau Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Barre Town. He is also survived by five grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Claude Nadeau and his companion, Rollande Bellemare, of Ste. Cecile, Quebec. Robert was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre and the Mutuo Inc. Among his interests were hunting, motorcycling, but most of all, he enjoyed spending precious time with his family.
