BOOTH, MADELINE E., 84, of South Barre, passed away September 11, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 27, 1929, the daughter of Lucien and Lea (Roy) Rivard. Madeline attended schools in Barre City and after graduation worked at Rivard Granite in Barre, and then at Hoyt and Mill Saw Plant doing the bookkeeping. On June 24, 1950, she married Norman Booth in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. The couple had always resided in the Barre area. After marrying Norman, Madeline started doing the bookkeeping for Booth Brothers Dairy in her home and continued doing that for several years until the company got too large. Madeline was a lifelong member of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre; Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Monica; and the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus. She volunteered at Central Vermont Medical Center for many years. Madeline loved to cook, bake and being around people. She loved taking care of her grandchildren as they were growing up. She enjoyed crocheting and made several afghans for her children and grandchildren while she was waiting for her husband to come home from the hay field. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Booth, of Williamstown, and Gerald Booth and wife, Diane, of Orange; two daughters, Kathy Rouleau, of Barre Town, and Donna Booth-Sharpe and husband, Richard, of Port St. Lucie, Fla. She is also survived by three brothers, Marcel Rivard and wife, Camilla, of Hertford, N.C., Roger Rivard and wife, Shirley, of Barre Town, and Robert Rivard and wife, Judy, of Barre Town; and one sister, Fern Quintana, of South Barre. She is survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Norman Booth, who died in September 2007.
