Congratulations to the Montpelier High School tennis team and their coaches Wendy Watson and Laura Furber for winning the Division II State Title. This was the first time the girls had ever won back to back titles. They achieved this by defeating Burr and Burton Academy who they defeated last year 7 to 0, and this year the result was the same, 7 to 0.
Coach Watson said the goal of the team was to win another State Championship. She defined the team as “very focused, worked hard off and on the court, were prepared to win important points and had great team chemistry.”
The players on the Montpelier Championship team included: Carly Watson, Annie Jones, Andie Parento, Chloe Golonka, Caitlyn Bashara, Alexis Boucher, Alyssa Brett, Kate Drew, Rhea Constantino, Julie Connor, Maddie Dunn and Samantha Ringer.
