Get your ‘fitness on’ this summer to help your favorite park win big

The air is warm, the grass is green, and summer is officially here. What better place to enjoy the summer than at your favorite park?

Parks offer endless opportunities for having fun in the sun. And whether it’s a game of catch with family or a bike ride with friends, getting active has never been more rewarding.

This summer, turn fun outdoor activities into votes to help your favorite park win up to $ 100,000 and the title of “America’s Favorite Park.” As part of Coca-Cola’s fourth-annual America Is Your Park campaign, the more you move, the more votes your favorite park earns toward winning money for improvements.

If you’re thinking of ways to get involved on behalf of a park, look no further than your favorite pair of gym shoes. Why? Because it all starts with getting active. Whether you play soccer, go for a run or play “hide and seek” with your kids, pull out your smartphone to earn votes for your favorite park. Vote by “checking in” from the park via foursquare, logging your daily fitness routine using MapMyFitness or clicking to vote online at www.Coke.com/parks. What’s better is that on July 4 and 5 and during the last weekend of voting (July 13 and 14), votes will be doubled.

Along with daily voting, you can also help bring your community together to give your favorite park a boost. You can start by organizing “field days” in the park, voting drives, distributing flyers or even creating a website to encourage votes for your park. You can then take it online to encourage people to get active and vote. By using the #TakeItToThePark hashtag, you can connect with people from parks around the country.

All of these efforts could really pay off for your favorite park. Winning parks will receive grants to help restore, rebuild or enhance activity areas in parks where people can be active. The park with the most votes will win a $ 100,000 grant. Second- and third-place parks will win $ 50,000 and $ 25,000 grants, respectively. There’s even a chance for your park to be chosen at random to win a $ 15,000 wildcard grant if it places between fourth and 25th by the end of the contest.

In addition to getting active in your community, grab your family and friends and have fun outdoors. Throughout the summer, Coca-Cola will be hosting a variety of events in cities around the country through the “Get The Ball Rolling” initiative. At these events, you can rediscover the joy and fun of being active by playing games using red soccer balls, challenging your friends to a dance off in the “Swelter Stopper,” participating in obstacle courses and more.

America Is Your Park is just one of many ways that Coca-Cola hopes to inspire as many as 3 million people to have fun and get active in parks, on beaches, and in gyms and recreation centers across the country this summer.

Voting ends on July 15, so make this summer all about being active outdoors. It’s not only fun, but an important part of a healthy lifestyle. And, your favorite national, state or local park is the perfect place to get your “fitness on.” Visit www.Coke.com/parks for more.
