In preparation for this year's Mission 4/1 Earth project, the nation-wide UCC initiative during the 50 days of Easter, the Vermont Conference, UCC, Dept. of Mission is planning a kick-off event on Thursday, March 7, to raise interest and awareness and share resources.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: SISTER BERNADETTE BOSTWICK, world-renowned interpreter of Creation-centered spirituality and environmental activist.
- Worship together with environmental themes, as model and inspiration for our liturgies during Mission 4/1 Earth
- Reflect on Sister Bernadette’s message as spiritual inspiration and foundation for our stewardship.
- Learn what our congregations have already been doing, and explore new resources/ideas for programs, including curricula for adult and youth Religious Education; tree planting in Kenya; and Carbon Fast.
- View clips of films for programs to inspire discussions: “Renewal: Stories from America’s Religious Environmental Movement,” “The Awakening Universe;” and “Taking Root: the Story of Wangari Maathai.”
