Rock & Soul Chorus To Resume In Barre
Name Of Author:
Article Content: Barre, VT – Monday, February 1, 2016 – Fresh off their recent inaugural concert on the Flying Stage at ReSource, Rock City will begin a new season starting Thursday, February 4. Rock City is Barre’s rock & soul chorus, directed by John Harrison. We meet on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 at the Church of the Good Shepherd on 39 Washington Street in Barre. We sing songs from the Sixties through the Aughties and beyond, and all songs are taught by rote using word sheets, so ability to read music is not required. There’s no audition, but singers should be able to accurately sing back what’s been sung to them. All ages are welcome, but children under 13 should come with a parent. John Harrison leads the Montpelier Community Gospel choir and has been a professional singer and sax player for 40 years, leading his own bands and having played with Buster Poindexter, Denis Leary, The Uptown Horns, Tish & Snooky, Otis Rush, Bobby Radcliff, and many others. He brings to his teaching a deep love of singing and its power to create community, as well as a lot of humor.
