Obituaries » GEORGE P. LISI

LISI, GEORGE PAUL, of Woodbury, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, after many years of illness. George was born on Feb. 8, 1952 in Philadelphia, son of Flora and Al Lisi. He was a naturalist, poet, meditator and teacher. His first book of poetry, “Through the Gate of Trees,” was published a year ago, and his second book, “The Home of Light,” will be published posthumously. A gentle soul of profound perception, George was dearly loved by his community and his students at Wisdom of the Herbs School, where he taught with Annie McCleary. The kernel of his life was working deep within the Light in service to all beloved beings in these rapidly changing times. His family includes his sister, Louise, of Philadelphia, Penn.; son Gerald Lisi of Seattle, Wash., whose mother is Deborah Lisi-Baker; sons Colin Bigelow, of Denver, Colo., and Nicholas Lisi, of San Francisco, Calif., whose mother is Mary Bigelow; two nieces and a grandniece; and several cousins. He is predeceased by his sister, Carol. There will be a memorial celebration of his life on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, music starting at 11:15am. The celebration starts at 11:30am, at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier.
