Obituaries » EDWARD A. PROULX

PROULX, EDWARD ARTHUR, “Papa Ed,” 70, of Burlington, died on August 5, at home surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 19, 1942, in Barre. He graduated from Marian High School in 1960 and Vermont Technical College in 1964. Ed leaves behind his loving wife, Roberta, and three beautiful daughters, Kelli (Scott LaPlant), Jennifer (Brent Tremblay), Joanne (K.C. Ihlefeld), and six adoring grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jeannie (Ed Mills), brother Raymond Proulx (Nancie) and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joffre and Cecile Proulx. Ed had a 40-year career as a mechanical engineering designer at General Electric/Dynamics. His work ethic and generosity went well beyond G.D. as a precise builder, handyman, volunteer (Meals on Wheels), avid hunter, fisherman, proud Vermonter, loyal and dedicated neighbor, unwavering friend and always welcoming host. Being exceptionally strong, youthful and athletic, he was always ready for any sport or game with friends, children and grandchildren. Humble in regards to other accomplishments, he would be most proud to be remembered as the dedicated husband, supportive father and “best Papa!”
