SHEPARD, LEROY CEDRIC, 89, of Gastonia, N.C., formerly of Montpelier, passed away July 31, surrounded by his family, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, N.C. Mr. Shepard was a native of Northfield, and the son of the late Cedric Shepard and Myrtie Wilfore Shepard. He lived in Vermont his entire life until he retired from the National Life Insurance Co., and then resided in Florida until he moved to North Carolina in 2009. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was a past member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Montpelier. He is survived by his wife, Alberta Hebert Shepard; son Ronald Shepard and wife Sharon; daughters Debra Shepard, Linda Foster and husband Robert; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son David M. Shepard, sisters Madiene Ryan, Janet Pecor and brother Gordon Shepard.
