Legislature Passes Bills to Improve Community Safety

 Editor:

I wanted our community to be aware that the legislature passed some very important bills this year that will make a big difference in the lives of Vermonters experiencing domestic and sexual violence and child abuse.
Thanks to the hard work of members of the Vermont House and Senate, there will be exciting changes happening in the way our state responds to domestic and sexual violence, including significant new funding for victim services and violence prevention programs, changes to criminal penalties for domestic assault, support for the state's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program, and more targeted and effective state response to allegations of child abuse.
These are significant accomplishments and I want to thank the legislature for their hard work on these issues which are crucial to the safety of our community.
