COFFIN, ROBERT DOUGLAS, 87
COFFIN, ROBERT DOUGLAS, 87, of Waterbury, died peacefully November 4, at his home. Born on Dec. 19, 1924, in Graniteville, Robert was raised by his mother, Blanche (Belanger) Coffin Falardeau, and his stepfather, Victor Falardeau. His father, Drussell Coffin, and his wife, Margery, lived in Barre. Bob was a graduate of Waterbury High School and joined the U.S. Navy during his senior year, serving in the South Pacific theater of operations during World War II. On Aug. 30, 1947, he was married to Mary "Marion" Izor, and the couple spent most of their life in Waterbury. Over the years, Bob worked in a variety of local businesses including an ice business, Mid-State Bowling Alley and Rock of Ages in Barre. In 1963, he started his own business, Coffin's TV, in Waterbury, where he continued to work until he retired in 2008. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted family: beloved wife Mary of 65 years; brother Richard Falardeau and wife Bonnie, of California; sister Dottie Fortier and husband Maurice, of Barre; son Barry Coffin and wife Tina, of Brandon; daughters Victoria Alberghini and husband Mark, of Waterbury, Jennifer Blacklock and fiancé Roger Lowe, of Waterbury, and Denise Catchapaw, of Middlebury; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by brother Drussell Coffin and sisters Virginia Tenney, Hazel Noistering, Arlyne Russell and Phyllis Towndrow.
