GIBSON, MARION "DODE" JANES WEBSTER, 81
GIBSON, MARION "DODE" JANES WEBSTER, 81, of Waterbury Center, passed onto greener pastures November 3. Born in Woodsville, N.H., on July 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John Randolph Webster and Ruth Gertrude (Norris) Webster. Dode grew up in Wells River with family and extended relatives. She was a graduate of Wells River High School and then attended the University of New Hampshire, graduating with her two-year degree in fine arts and mechanical engineering. She married Kenneth Stewart Gibson in 1953 and together purchased a farm on Kneeland Flats in Waterbury. The farm and cows ("the girls") were her passion. In 1968, after selling the farm, she and her husband built a home on Gregg Hill Road in Waterbury Center and Dode started a career in floral design, working for several area florists. In 1986, she moved back to the Connecticut River Valley to be with family. A resident of Newbury for many years, Dode became very involved in a number of community projects. In 2009, she moved in with her oldest daughter, Mary Truax, of Waterbury Center, until her passing. Dode and K. Stewart Gibson had five children: Mary Stewart Gibson Truax, of Waterbury Center, Lucia Jean Gibson (deceased), David Stewart Gibson (deceased), William Stewart Gibson, of East Ryegate, and Lucia Stewart Gibson Burke, of Berlin. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
