SULLIVAN, HELEN MARY, 90

SULLIVAN, HELEN MARY, 90, passed away October 29, surrounded by her family and caregivers at The Manor in Morrisville. Helen was a longtime resident of the West Branch Apartments in Stowe, where she had many friends. She had been in failing health for a period of time. Helen was born on May 25, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Mary (Moore) and Francis Eddington. She grew up in Queens, N.Y., where she graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She had one brother, Francis, who predeceased her. Before marrying Joseph Dennis Sullivan in 1946, Helen worked as a computer keypunch operator at Sperry Rand Corp. in New York City. She devoted her life thereafter to her husband and three sons, Thomas Joseph, Joseph Thomas and Gary Joseph in West Hempstead, N.Y. There she was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the West Hempstead Fire Department, where her husband was fire chief, and in the Rosary Guild of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She enjoyed competitive bowling and dancing in local theater productions. When her husband passed away in 1976, Helen went to work at J.C. Penney. She retired in 1987, when she moved to Stowe to be closer to her children and grandchildren, providing child care while the family worked at their business, Sullivan Transportation, in Stowe. Helen was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Stowe and always a spiritual woman of the Catholic faith. She is survived by son Thomas, of Bakersfield (formerly of Moscow), and his wife, Patricia, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Sullivan, of Stowe, wife of deceased son Joseph, and Gary and wife Darlene, of Brockport, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
