CASSANI, SHIRLEY JUNE, 77
CASSANI, SHIRLEY JUNE, 77, of Williamstown, died September 21 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Born on April 15, 1935, in Graniteville, she was the daughter of Byron R. and Alice G. (Pelletier) Nutbrown Sr. She attended Graniteville Elementary School, graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre and later went to hairdressing school in Burlington. In June of 1954, Shirley married Robert E. Cassani. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre before moving to Sterling Hill in Barre Town. Later, they resided in Phoenix, Ariz. for several years. They moved back to Barre Town to make their home with their daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David Ross, before moving to Williamstown. In earlier years, Shirley and Bob owned and operated the Miss Montpelier Diner. After hairdressing school, she worked for a brief time at the Chez Hugette Beauty Salon in Barre. Shirley then worked with her husband as the bookkeeper for their company, Cassani Electric, for many years. She took pleasure in taking time with her family and taking care of her home on Sterling Hill. She loved her dogs and enjoyed flower gardening. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Cassani of Williamstown; four daughters, Kathryn Tremblay and husband Andre of Bow, N.H., Sheree Hadley and husband Kenneth of Henniker, N.H., Laurie Quinsler of Phoenix, Ariz., and Melanie Ross and husband David of South Barre; two sons, Nicholas Cassani and wife Brenda of St. Albans and Mario Cassani of Barre; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Byron R. Nutbrown Jr.; nieces and nephews.
