GIBBS, DOREEN MARIE
GIBBS, DOREEN MARIE, passed away on August 21 at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center, after a short illness. Born on September 21, 1959 in Randolph, Doreen was the daughter of Arthur and Rachel Rodgers Gibbs. Doreen moved to Graniteville as a baby and spent her childhood there. She attended local schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1979. For most of her adult life, Doreen lived in the Central Vermont area where she worked at a variety of jobs. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Montpelier. Doreen was a resident at The Willows of Windsor in Windsor, Vt. for most of the last two years. In April of this year, She moved in with Ben and Jeanne Hart of Weathersfield where she spent five of the happiest months of her life. Doreen learned to play video games and spent many wonderful hours being with her "family". She had a special friend, Elizabeth Hassman, who took her out on outings and to her house regularly for overnights. Doreen is survived by her parents of Essex Junction, two sisters, Dawn and Adam McSweeney of Essex Junction, Pamela Wilder of Williamstown, one brother, Ronald of Graniteville, and her beloved aunt and uncle Philip and Ora Gibbs of Graniteville. Doreen is also survived by her special "family" Ben and Jeanne Hart and their sons, Connor and Jordon of Weatherfield, her special friend Elizabeth Hasman of Springfield, her guardian Sue Toolan and husband Raymond of Montpelier, and her case manager Jessica Smith of Windsor. Doreen was preceded by her daughter, Nina, and a sister Janet Gibbs. An interment service will be held at Hope Cemetery on September 29 at 11:00.
