A Note to Anthony and Gaye

Editor:

My quandary may be that of others as well. I can't be the ONLY person in Vermont thinking this way.

The last thing in the world I wish to see is Jim Douglas continuing as Governor for another 2 years.

When Anthony was the only opponent, I was delighted and had expectations he might be able to win. Now that Gaye has entered the race, I envision a split among those who oppose the current Governor, and will only result in Jim Douglas being around again.

I personally would be happy with any reasonable Democratic or Progressive Governor, and the quandary is which one of you to vote for. I just don't think Anthony will have the money and support necessary for him to beat both Douglas & Gaye. Neither, even with the resources of the Dems, do I think that Gaye will be able to prevail in a 3 way race.

What is the solution?  Is there any way of Anthony & Gaye getting together to form a team against Jim? Don't ask me how - you guys are the professional politicians - work it out !

As it is, with each working independently to battle Douglas and battle each other, I fear that we are destined for another 2 years of regressive government with a Republican Governor battling a Democratic legislature. In my opinion, it's all certainly detrimental to Vermont. Rather than "battling," there needs to be some sort of coalition, unless of course, your respective goals are for the personal gratification of accusing the other of being "the spoiler" rather than the chance to finally achieve good government for Vermont.

I'm am admittedly politically naive, but geeze, common sense says that unless you folks make some accommodation with each other and get together in some way, we will continue to have more of the same.
