CAMIRE, MADELINE L., 78
CAMIRE, MADELINE L., 78, of Barre Town, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 9 at Central Vermont Medical Center. She had been in unstable health. Her husband, Maurice "Monty" McDermott, and daughter Lori Waller provided constant support to Madeline through recent health setbacks, and Lori was with her mother when she passed away. Monty, Lori and husband Bill Waller, and many others provided companionship and help that kept Madeline's life lively and full of hope to the end. Madeline was born in Lower Websterville on March 20, 1934, daughter of Henry A. and Florence (Nolan) LaGue. She was valedictorian of the 1952 graduating class at Spaulding High School and was captain of the cheerleading squad. She married Robert O. Camire and devoted herself to homemaking for her husband and five daughters. After being widowed when several of her daughters were still at home, she continued to carry out her family responsibilities on her own. In 1991, she married "Monty" McDermott and they enjoyed many years of companionship in their shared love of golf, socializing at the Montpelier Elks Club, and visits with their 11 daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Madeline served for many years as bookkeeper for her brother Henry LaGue Jr., of LaGue Inc., where she was corporate secretary. She was also co-owner of the former J.W. Dillon Insurance Agency in Barre. Besides her husband, "Monty," she leaves her daughters, Lyn, Lori, Kim, Kathy and Vicky; stepdaughters Jill, Teri, Holly, Tracy, Susan and Patricia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother Henry LaGue Jr. and wife, Sue; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her first husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Jane Austin, and her brother John LaGue.
