Success! The New Granite Hills Credit Union To Open Next Tuesday

It’s been the talk of the town in Barre since the March 6th groundbreaking, and now the opening on October 14th, of the new Granite Hills Credit Union at 328 North Main Street has instilled more astonishment and pride from the community.
The talk really began in February, with demolition of the old Moose Lodge building. Firefighters from six communities practiced their skills on a controlled burn on February 10th.
And from those ashes has come a magnificent new 4800 s.f. facility that will feature (much more space than their previous 1200 s.f. office at 266 North Main) two drive-through lanes, a 24-hour ATM, Saturday night drive-through hours, and a night depository.
“Yes, we will still have a branch in the National Life building,” says Granite Hills Credit Union CEO Susan M. Poczobut, explaining that their credit union started there in 1952 (as the National Life Credit Union) and then moved to downtown Barre in 2001 as the Granite Hills Credit Union.
Poczobut said that Granite Hills will be open Mon.-Thurs. 8-5 (Lobby 8:30-5 daily), Fri. 8-5:30, and Sat. 9-Noon.
“Besides the space problems at 266 North Main, we badly wanted the ATM, drive-ups and night depository.” relates Poczobut. “And more convenient parking.”
“Credit Unions are real popular now, especially with the problems banks are facing, plus we are member-owned and know almost everyone on a first-name basis. We are extremely rock solid and federally-insured (now $250,000) and can offer our members higher rates on savings and lower rates on loans than most other financial institutions,” notes Poczobut.
“This move allows us to considerably enhance service for our members,” states Poczobut, CEO. “The significantly larger space in this new building in Barre shows the continuation of our commitment to this community and our membership.”
