Barre Town: Host a Chat with Candidate Pizzo

My name is John Pizzo and I am a candidate for State Representative from Barre Town.
As I began campaigning, I quickly learned a few important things. First, Barre Town is a big place geographically. As much as I would like to, I can't possibly knock on every door in town. Second, I don't want to spend a lot of money because I believe that money is at least partly what's wrong with politics today. And besides, I cannot, in good conscience, justify spending money on a campaign while my friends and neighbors are facing tough economic times. You may notice some lawn signs. I found these necessary to establish some name recognition because the incumbents have such a huge advantage. And I'll send out some postcards to absentee voters and reminders for a get-out-the-vote effort. But otherwise, I'll do little or no campaign spending.
So how do I get my message out? Here's a novel idea. Invite me to your house. Seriously. Get 10, 15, or however many of your friends and neighbors together, call me, and we'll make a date. It doesn't matter what their political preference. Frankly, I'd prefer to leave the party labels home for the moment. I promise not to ask for money, I'll be respectful of your time, and all you need to provide is the place. A pot of coffee might be a nice touch. Then we'll just talk neighbor to neighbor. Mostly, I'll listen. I want to hear your concerns and ideas, and then I'll tell you where I stand. If you like what you hear, I'd appreciate your vote. If you don't like what you hear, we can respectfully disagree and part friends.
I'd love to see Barre Town lead the way in re-establishing civility in politics and breaking the partisanship that has a stranglehold on Montpelier. We have too much work to do to waste our time on non-productive power struggles.
