GIBBS, HOWARD EVEREST SR., 83

GIBBS, HOWARD EVEREST SR., 83, died peacefully on September 19 at The Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville. He was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Morrisville. Howard served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked at the Vermont State Hospital for 30 years as a cook and in grounds maintenance. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his children, Howard Everest Gibbs, Jr. and wife, Deanna of Waterbury Center; Andrew Gibbs of Wolcott; Barry Gibbs and wife, Betty of Duxbury; Bonny Gibbs of Brookline, N.H. and Gordon Gibbs and wife, Vicki of Mercersburg, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ward of Waterville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Richardson Gibbs; father and step-mother, Myron Wallace Gibbs and Ruth Patch Gibbs; his mother, Gladys Pratt Maxim and a son, William "Bill" Ward. Howard was also predeceased by his beloved dog, Ruby.
