FORKEY, EDWARD ALBERT JR.

FORKEY, EDWARD ALBERT JR., 66, of Waterbury, passed away in the comfort of his home and family on September 18, following a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Duxbury on Aug. 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Ruth (Sherman) Forkey Sr. Ed attended elementary school in Duxbury and was a 1960 graduate of Waterbury High School. On Oct. 11, 1963, Ed married the former Mary Jane Callahan in Waterbury. Ed enlisted in the Army National Guard and did his training at Fort Dix, N.J. He was employed by Eagle Oil Co. of Waterbury for many years, later for Johnson and Dix Oil Co. and more recently by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury. His memberships included the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 of Waterbury, where he was active for over 29 years, as well as Winooski Lodge #49, F&AM of Waterbury. Among his interests were coin collecting, reading, playing games and cards, watching action movies and socializing. Ed is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Mary Forkey of Waterbury; their children, Edward Forkey III and wife, Pamala, of Groton, James Forkey of Waterbury, Mark Forkey and wife, Erinn, of Waterbury, and Christopher Forkey and wife, Theresa, of Waterbury; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Eyvette Santamore and Thelma Forkey, both of Waterbury; four brothers, Robert Mudgett of Townshend, John Forkey of South Burlington, Robert Forkey of Waterbury, and Major Forkey of New York; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, James B. Forkey and Emile R. Forkey.
