Help a Neighbor: Donate a Coat Karen Kitzmiller Memorial Winte

State Representative Warren Kitzmiller and many faithful volunteers are gearing up for the 19th annual “Karen Kitzmiller Memorial Winter Coat Drive” taking place on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25. This year, Warren is broadening his coverage area through a partnership with Community National Bank. In 1990, the late State Representative Karen Kitzmiller of Montpelier originated the event in conjunction with her campaign. Karen passed away in 2001 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, but her coat drive lived on, grew rapidly and proved to be an invaluable community service. Warren has continued the coat drive efforts in loving honor of Karen’s memory, and to help fill our neighbors’ winter needs. Many families and community members struggle with the expense of suiting up for the winter months, and many go without. With people facing the high cost of fuel this winter, the drive is expanding to include quilts, blankets and comforters. Please Donate This event has been a tremendous success, but this only happens through the generosity of the many community members who are willing to lend a helping hand and donate. This year there will be three drop-off locations: Montpelier City Hall, 39 Main St., Community National Bank, 95 State St. and Community National Bank, 316 North Main St. in Barre. The items that are needed include clean, good quality winter coats, snowpants, snowboots, hats and mittens of all sizes for adults and children, plus quilts, blankets and comforters. Donations can be made during business hours at the Barre and Montpelier offices of Community National Bank from now through Friday, October 24 and at Montpelier City Hall on Friday, October 24, from Noon until 7:00 pm. Pick-up Information On Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25, community members will have access to two pick-up locations: Montpelier City Hall, 39 Main St., from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday and at Community National Bank’s Barre office located at 316 North Main St. from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Friday and from 9:00 am until Noon on Saturday.
