HEBERT, PETER J. DMD, 52
HEBERT, PETER J. DMD, 52, of Stowe and most recently of Waterbury Center, passed away unexpectedly in Jacksonville, N.C., while piloting his personal aircraft. Born in Manchester, Conn., on April 9, 1959, he was the son of Jean-Louis Hebert and the late Pauline (Coulombe) Hebert. Peter was formerly married to Jeanne M. Grant for 26 years, and has two daughters, Kristin and Allison. Peter was a 1977 graduate of Manchester (Conn.) High School and continued his education at Boston University, graduating in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He then enrolled at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1985 as a doctor of dental medicine. Peter began his practice with his father in Manchester, Conn., which spanned 13 years, before moving to Vermont, where he has practiced in Waterbury since 1997. He was an active member of the Waterbury and Stowe communities and a participant in the VT Dental Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. Peter had a zest for life and lived every second to the fullest. If not on the mountain skiing, he could be seen in the air flying over the Green Mountains. Along with being an avid skier and aviator, he loved to bicycle on-road and off, hike and backpack the world's mountains and ride his motorcycle. He is fondly remembered by his family as a Renaissance man; he was industrious and a true craftsman in everything that he approached. An experienced aviator for over 25 years, Peter not only loved to fly but also enjoyed building his own planes. His positive attitude was contagious. A believer in cutting edge dentistry, he brought his abilities, knowledge and compassion to his patients, who in turn, have expressed their gratitude and appreciation. Peter is survived by Jeanne Grant Hebert, of Stowe; two daughters, Kristin Hebert of Bellingham, Wash., and Allison Hebert, of Stowe; his father, Jean-Louis Hebert, DDS, of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister, Suzanne McNeill and husband, Matthew, of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; a brother, Paul Hebert and wife, Sharon, of Manchester, Conn.; and two nieces.
