PATERSON, ETHEL M., 91
PATERSON, ETHEL M., 91, of Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, died there on May 5. She was born April 14, 1920, in Aberdeen, Scotland, the only child of William and Mary Ann (Thomson) Riach. She spent her early years in South Africa before moving to the United States. She married George Paterson on Nov. 1, 1949, in Boston and then moved to Barre. After many years of service, she retired from The Times Argus, where she had worked as a bookkeeper. The Montpelier Senior Center was a favorite spot for her and George. She would accompany her husband and the band Swing Over 60's when they went to nursing homes, and she loved to dance. The last 10 years of her life were spent at the Woodridge Nursing Home, where the staff treated her with the utmost care and love. Survivors include her two sons, John and Brian Shirley, of Cape Town, South Africa; and nieces Suzanne Cassavoy, of Birmingham, Ala., and Tracy Henrickson, of Barre. She was predeceased by her husband, George.
