MILLER, HARRY M. "MARTY," 79, of Barre, Town, died August 7 at Fletcher Allen Health Care, where he had been a patient for nine days. His family had been at his bedside. Born Jan. 11, 1931, in Websterville, he was the son of Harry A. and Edith (Martin) Miller and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1949. On Jan. 1, 1952, he married Kathleen M. Dickinson in the Websterville Baptist Church. They lived in Barre City for a short time and since 1969 they have resided on Miller Road. In earlier years, he worked in the Wells-Lamson Quarry. He later worked as a carpenter, starting his own business, Miller Building Company Inc., which he retired from in 1995, after building over 300 new homes. Hunting, fishing, antique auctions and collecting, gardening, and reading his Bible were his special interests. A veteran of the Korean conflict, he served from 1952 to 1954 in the U.S. Army and had been stationed with the 29th Infantry Regiment in Okinawa. He had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal. His memberships included the Websterville Baptist Church where he had been a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and active on the building committee and the Barre Town planning board. Besides his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Anne Miller of Burlington; three sons, James Miller at home, Steven Miller and wife, Laurie, and Brian Miller, all of Barre Town; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his brother, Robert Miller of Barre Town; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Willard Miller.
