Town Meeting Survey Comments

Next week I will have partial percentage returns for the Town Meeting Survey. Thank you for all your comments.

Barre

-Vermont's economy needs a great deal of work. Since we moved here 19 years ago, we, as well as many senior citizens, have found it harder and harder to make ends meet.

-I've had near accidents because of people with cell phones. It's like they arent paying much attention to the rest of us on the road, and it's not right.

-Think how much lower our taxes would be if the millions spent on elections returned back to the people.

Barre Town

-Legislature spends too much time passing laws which they dont enforce. Example, the smoking age is 18, but it is not enforced in most towns.

-We pay almost $3,000 yearly for health care insurance with a $3,000 deductible. Our medical expenses have never exceeded $500.

-I think that Vermont should be strongly supporting wind, solar and hydro-power projects.

Calais

-Taxes are too high and our roads are getting worse crumbling to pieces.

Marshfield

-We need the power Yankee produces.

Middlesex

-I think the legislature should deal with Vermont problems and not world problems.

Montpelier

-With the exception of emergencies, I cannot understand why drivers cannot wait until they can find a safe place to stop before answering their cell phone or making a call on them.

-I am against nuclear power, but if it goes forward, we must make sure all safety measures are in place and top technology is required.

-Hearing aids should be a covered medical expense under all insurance for all ages.

Moretown

-I am not optimistic about Vermont's economy because the national economic mess will drive it.

-The roads and bridges need to be repaired, but not by increasing the gas tax, because that hurts everyone. Increase the tax on trucks, especially those coming into the state.

Northfield

-Prohibit cell phones for drivers and make a stiff fine for the offense. Enough people have already been injured or killed because of them.

-My husband and I both shudder at the very thought of the winner of the 2008 presidential election.

Waterbury

-Driving in traffic can be very dangerous and often attention is not being given to the road.
