Republicans are blessed to have two excellent candidates for Lieutenant Governor, but we would like to share briefly with you why we believe Phil Scott should be our next Lieutenant Governor.
For the last ten years, Phil has been an effective legislator. He is trusted on all sides, as evidenced by the fact that the Democrat majority in the Senate has named him to the influential Institutions Committee. Our personal experience working with him in the Statehouse has shown that he is open, hard-working and trustworthy. Phil listens, considers all sides carefully and respectfully, and only then decides what course to take.
Phil╒s wide range of experience from running heavy equipment for his own construction company, being involved in public service activities, including his experience in the Statehouse, to driving his race car helps him appeal to a wide range of voters. He has support among Republicans, Democrats and Independents, both publicly and behind the scenes. It was no surprise that an informal poll this February named him as the legislator most likely to cross the aisle to achieve consensus. In these days of partisan bickering, we need to elect a candidate who has demonstrated his willingness to bring people together; Phil Scott has done that.
There is a flood of Phil Scott for Lieutenant Governor signs here in Washington County and around the state, but in order for Phil╒s name to appear on the ballot in November, he must first win the Republican primary on August 24. We urge you to join us in voting for Phil Scott in the Republican primary, either in person on Primary Day or by voting early. To vote early, simply stop by your town or city clerk and vote then and there, or call your clerk to ask for a mail-in ballot.
Whether you choose to vote early or wait until Primary Day, your vote is important, and you will not regret voting for Phil Scott.
