HOLT, EVELYN M., 84
HOLT, EVELYN M., 84, of East Montpelier, died July 23 at Central Vermont Medical Center. Born on Jan. 19, 1926, in Eden, she was the daughter of George and Jenny Shover. She graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre. On July 5, 1945, she married Clyde O. Holt in Plainfield. They first made their home in Barre until 1949, when they moved to East Montpelier. He died June 20, 2009. Evelyn first worked as a waitress at the Wayside Restaurant in Berlin. Later for many years, she worked for the Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant and Sprague Electric Company in Barre. After the capacitor plant closed, she worked in the kitchen at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center until her retirement. Evelyn was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Marshfield where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed crocheting and had crocheted many items for the Central Vermont Humane Society. In earlier years, she enjoyed hunting with her husband. Survivors include her son, Charles Holt of East Montpelier; her brother-in-law, Arthur Holt of Corinth, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Shover and her sisters, Sophie Gardner, Dorothy Bickford, Marion Sheltra, and Ellen Shover.
