EMMONS, BERNARD C., 70


EMMONS, BERNARD C., 70, of Washington, died July 19, at his home. Born in Hinesburg, on Nov. 16, 1939, he was the son of the late Earle and Mary (Conway) Emmons. He graduated from high school in 1960 in Hinesburg. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1972. He was employed at Barre City Creamery and owned and operated his farm. He later went to work as a sawyer in the granite industry. Later, he was self-employed doing odd jobs. His last employment was at Ben & Jerry's. On June 16, 1962, he married Theresa A. Quimette in Burlington. She died March 26, 2006. He did a lot of volunteer work, especially for the Community Action Center in Barre. Survivors include five sons, Edward Emmons, Bernard Emmons Jr., Christopher Emmons, James Emmons, all of Washington, and Joseph Emmons of Hartford; three daughters, Angel Emmons of Hartford, Debra Lavigne of Berlin, and Tracy Emmons of Barre, as well as 13 grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, David and Michael Emmons and two granddaughters.
