VERMONT: “Just moved here from Texas. What an incredible delight is Vermont.”
AFFORDABILITY: “The cost of living in Vermont is affordable compared to other places, but making enough money to afford it is still very difficult.”
“There are a few states that are affordable nowadays. Vermont just happens to be one of them.”
“I can afford to live here – born and bread – but only because I use not credit cards and am lucky enough to have worked and saved enough.”
“Vermont is only affordable to those earning household incomes over $60,000 a year.”
YANKEE: “I feel very strongly that Vermont Yankee should be closed and that very strong measures should be taken to make sure that the current owners pay for the clean up of the site.”
“Yankee’s relicensing should be decided by the Public Service Board, not the legislature.”
SMOKING: “Ban smoking in front of public buildings and in public areas such as sidewalks.”
ENERGY: “I believe that a major effort should be made to conserve energy of both types in Vermont and encourage in-state generation of renewable energy.”
LEGISLATURE: “I believe that a lot of tax dollars could be saved if the legislature would take care of the necessary legislation and go home.”
“We could balance the budget and provide necessary solutions to social problems if we cut the military budget and bring our military forces home.”
“Stop enacting new laws.”
“The legislation needs to focus on health care reform and the creation of jobs. Property taxes need to come down.”
“There should be a focus on providing jobs that pay livable wages rather than money slated for pet projects. There should be a focus on jobs for hardworking, educated and honest people.”
CELL PHONES: “I wonder if there was a cell phone police and heavy fines that could stop the abuse. Phones are great for being stranded but what makes people think that they can do two or three things at once.”
STIMULUS: “I do not agree with pork barrel funding where legislatures which is unrelated to the purpose of the stimulus program as stated by the President.”
CONGRESS: “It is Congress that is doing a terrible job.”
