Our health care situation is critical. It affects our economy in a huge way and if not addressed, costs will only continue to spiral upwards. Our legislators want to make changes and they need to hear from their constituents that this is a real priority. We can lower costs dramatically if the right health care policy is moved forward.
To be effective, a health reform bill must represent the principals of human rights. This means that it must be open to every single person who resides in Vermont. It must not have barriers to care. It needs to be transparent in design and efficient in operation, and it must distribute the cost of care fairly and justly.
Our legislators rely on lobbyists to a great extent in order to get information about the current system. Please contact your representatives and tell them your story. Let them know you support a system that is open to all and a system that will provide care at a reasonable cost. Other developed countries do this. In fact, the US is the only developed country that does not provide this human right to it's citizens. We have the money to make it happen. It is already being paid out to insurance companies, hospitals and drug firms. However, Vermont legislators will not move forward unless they hear from the folks who want this to be a reality.
Call today and let your rep know they have your support to do the right thing.
