LAWRENCE, ERRICA LOUISE, 95
LAWRENCE, ERRICA LOUISE, 95, of Barre, died January 22 at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, where she had recently been admitted. Born June 3, 1914, in Berlin, she was the daughter of Eduardo and Pierina (Bottiggi) Fontana. She attended North Barre School and was a 1932 Spaulding High School graduate. She was first married to Luigi Ghillani in 1934 at St. Monica Church. He is deceased. In 1946, she married Frederick J. Lawrence in Barre, where they always made their home. He died Sept. 22, 2009. Following high school, she worked at the Barre Opera House selling tickets, and for many years she had worked as a bookkeeper at the former Peoples National Bank of Barre and later the Key Bank in Barre, becoming manager of the bookkeeping department. Volunteer service for Central Vermont Hospital, the March of Dimes, Vermont Food Bank, The Heart Fund and the area nursing homes was important to her, and in 1987 she was honored by the city of Barre for her civic contributions. She and her husband, Fred, also were drivers of blood to the Chittenden County Red Cross office in Burlington. She was an avid card player and lifetime communicant of St. Monica Church. Survivors include her niece, Marie Tomberg, and husband, Paul, of Barre Town, and nephew Dr. David Fontana and wife Marianne of East Longmeadow, Mass.; a grandniece, Michelle Fontana, and two grandnephews, Eric Tomberg and Michael Fontana; and more distant relatives. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Lawrence, who died in infancy, her brother Alfeo "Pee Wee" Fontana and her beloved husband, Fred.
